Reservations Open with a 999 Yuan Deposit: Audi A5L Sportback to Start Pre-Sales on July 3rd

On June 30th, we learned from SAIC Audi that its brand-new mid-size sedan, the Audi A5L Sportback, will start pre-sales on July 3rd. The car has already opened for reservations with a deposit of 999 yuan and comes with a variety of benefits worth 5,550 yuan. These include a 30km exclusive driver chauffeuring service within the city, a 20km free car pick-up and delivery service, a 50km exclusive airport transfer service by a professional driver, a premium full-car wash and detailing, access to an exclusive VIP lounge at the airport, and the provision of a same-class replacement vehicle on demand. Notably, the A5L Sportback is SAIC Audi's first product built on the PPC platform, equipped with the EA888 Evo5 engine.

A quick recap: The overall design of the SAIC Audi A5L Sportback was crafted by German designer Mr. Jakob Hirzel, who was also responsible for the designs of the second-generation A5 and the overseas version of the all-new A5. While the exterior retains the design language of the overseas model, it has been subtly adjusted to cater to Chinese consumers' preferences. The SAIC Audi A5L Sportback features a larger grille than the FAW-Volkswagen Audi A5L, along with an illuminated four-ring logo. Its digital LED daytime running lights offer multiple lighting signatures, showcasing its innovative edge.

From the side, the car features frameless doors and a classic fastback design. The extended wheelbase is clearly visible from an overhead view, and the roofline slopes down gently from the C-pillar to ensure ample rear passenger space. At the rear, it incorporates a full-width design with second-generation OLED taillights that offer various customizable lighting signatures to meet the个性化 needs of young consumers. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4,903mm in length, 1,883mm in width, and 1,427mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,922mm. This represents an increase of 74mm in length and 22mm in wheelbase compared to the overseas Audi A5.

Inside, the vehicle boasts a triple-screen setup consisting of a full LCD instrument cluster, a central touchscreen, and a passenger-side entertainment display. The staggered arrangement of the three screens creates a dynamic and tech-savvy look, complemented by Audi's latest four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. Physical buttons and knobs are retained at the bottom of the center console for easy access to frequently used functions. Additionally, the new car will adopt Huawei's advanced intelligent driving solution, featuring two lidars, 11 high-definition cameras, six millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, promising an exciting driving experience.

Under the hood, the A5L Sportback is powered by the EA888 Evo5 2.0T engine with a maximum power output of 200kW. It is also equipped with two 48V motors: a 48V starter motor for engine start/stop functions and a PTG motor integrated into the gearbox. The PTG motor can assist the engine with an output of up to 18kW and recover kinetic energy with a maximum power of 25kW. As previously revealed, the chassis tuning was carried out by German engineers to ensure an authentic driving experience.
